Short Wave and Mid Wave torches are new. SW and MW LEDs have only recently been developed to a level where they can be used in a torch. They are more expensive and not as powerful as LW LEDs which have been around for longer. However, SW and MW torches are more convenient than tube-based lamps which are larger and more cumbersome.

FS torches are Short Wave (UVC, 255nm). FM torches are Mid Wave (UVB, 310nm).

The FS8 Kit includes the Short Wave FS8 torch, four 26650 batteries, an intelligent charger, a USB cable for charging and a carry pouch. The torch takes two batteries, and 2 spares are provided which doubles the time you can use the torch before recharging.

The FS8x Kit includes the Short Wave FS8x torch, two 26650 batteries, an intelligent charger, a USB cable for charging and a carry pouch. The torch takes one battery, and 1 spare is provided which doubles the time you can use the torch before recharging. FS8x has the same brightness as the 2-battery FS8, but does not last as long before recharging is needed.

The FM8 and FM8x Kits are the same except that the torches are Mid Wave.

The brown tubes are inserts that enable 18650 batteries to be used. They produce the same amount of UV, but don’t last as long between charges as the 26650 batteries.
